OSCommerce Setup

Before we begin
1. Make sure you have "PHP" Enabled in your Control Panel.
This can be confirmed by checking an icon called Web Site Settings under your domain name.
2. Go to the URL " http://www.oscommerce.com/solutions/downloads" and download the Oscommerce version required by clicking Download.
3. Upload this file to your wwwroot using your FTP Details.
4. Call Hosting Support on 0860 009 500, email us at support@webafrica.co.za or send us a support ticket through your Customer Zone to extract the file uploaded.

Note: When contacting us inform the agent to remove all .htaccess files as they are meant for Linux Distros. only. Also request they copy a php.ini file into your wwwroot folder.


If all these have been checked then we may begin installing Oscommerce


Step 1
Open your browser using Internet Explorer or Firefox.
On the URL address, enter add http://yourdomainname...
Click Continue..


Step 2
Database setup is an important step; you will need to enter your database information as displayed above
(Note this is just a template and your details and host name might be different)
Once done click Continue


Step 3
At this point there is no need to change these settings. Click on the continue button.


Step 4
Online Store Settings allows you to enter your website information and you set the
administrator username, administrator password and site owner's email for the site.


Step 5
Please remove the install folder in wwwroot or rename if unsure. The last step allows you to:
1) Login in to Catalog


Step 6
Send your last support ticket to support@webafrica.co.za to set the file configuration.php to read only.
2) Administration Tool


Here you can login as administrator to manage you site
