What do I get with my Business Uncapped account?

Your Business Uncapped account includes the following features:

Why is there an Acceptable Usage Policy (AUP) in place?

Acceptable Usage Policies (AUPs) are implemented to ensure your business receives an optimal level of service. Users who utilise the network in excess can have a negative effect on other customers - AUPs assist in reducing this excess usage. Most ISPs implement AUPs, although some ISPs are not as open and honest about their limitations. We optimise our business users’ online experience through intelligent traffic prioritisation and rolling windows

What are rolling windows?

We use rolling windows to measure usage to ensure that heavier users don’t affect the quality of the service for the majority of customers.

We measure your usage in 10 day windows. If you reach your "10 day rolling window limit" (provided below) within 10 days; your maximum download speed will be halved until your usage within 10 days falls below your limit. Your maximum download speed will never be reduced by more than half.

Below is a table that will assist in understanding your threshold.

To put this in perspective, you would have to utilise your full line speed for 12 hours consistently every day for 10 days to reach your 10 day rolling window limit.

This customer has a 1 Mbps Business Uncapped package which as shown in the table above, has a 53 GB limit 10 day rolling window limit.

Is there shaping on my Business Uncapped account?

We use a more advanced form of shaping known as traffic prioritisation. Traffic prioritisation ensures a better online experience by prioritising your business' critical traffic such as VoIP, browsing, email and VPN. Business Uncapped accounts have Gold Quality Bandwidth, and all traffic is therefore treated with the relevant priority; you can find more information regarding traffic prioritisation on our Bandwidth Priority Profiles article.

What speeds can I expect on my Business Uncapped account? 

Your bandwidth speed is dependent on two factors:

Your Telkom line speed - We recommend you complete a speed test to determine at what speed your line is currently syncing. If your line is managed by Web Africa we will handle any line upgrade/downgrade requests, saving you the hassle.

Your Business Uncapped package - Your bandwidth speeds can only be as fast as the Uncapped packaged you have purchased.

e.g. If you have selected a 2Mpbs Business Uncapped package but  your speed test says your line is syncing at 9Mbps, your maximum bandwidth speed will still only be 2Mbps.

Are Static IPs available on my Business Uncapped account?

Yes, Business Uncapped accounts come with the option to add Static IPs.


Do I have to take out a contract for Business Uncapped?

Not at all. We don’t feel the need to bind our customers into contracts that aren’t always convenient for them. You are free to use our service on a monthly basis. Read our Billing section for more information on how this would work.
